Patron Series, Episode 2: The Open Studio Tour

I’d like to give a nod to the Open Studio Tour in this note about patrons of art. I have said many times that artists need collectors, the friends and acquaintances who see the value of bringing a piece of art home. Making hand made art a part of one’s daily life is rewarding, repaying the initial price in so many ways. By affirming the value inherent in bringing art into their life, the patron elevates their own environment and their connection to the artist’s vision. This is the essence of being an art patron.

The South Coast Artists Open Studio Tour is a great time to meet me at the studio, and a golden opportunity to find the piece that speaks to you. It’s an open house, and an opening. An opening door for you to bring a new piece of beauty into your life, one that you will connect with every day, and that, in my experience, gives back a world of different things as time passes.

Laurel with her new painting, “Frivolities of a Garden” at the July 19 Open Studio. She visited last year, and returning, decided this was the day she would have this lovely.

Caitlyn and her young art lover son with her newest painting, “Blue Beginning” at the July open studio. She came to the open studio and finally chose a painting from among my work at Tiffany Peay Jewelry. This will be a gorgeous companion to her first piece, featured in my first Patrons episode!

You can visit me at the 2025 Open Studio Tour this weekend, August 16th and 17th, 10-4pm. Number 3 on the SCA tour map at 103 Fogland Rd, Tiverton, RI. Here is a photo with Tiffany and my dear friend Diane Cournoyer, who is an amazing painter I have known since Swain School of Design.
