Winter has resurrected and with the snowy cold, I am doing what I have always loved, drawing in my sketchbook. This recalled to mind some of the older ones I used to carry. New York had great art supply stores and to peruse the pads of different kinds of paper was to want one of each. So I took notes, drew people in public, sketched all manner of ideas and copied art I saw. I drew landscapes, architecture, bunnies and baked goods. So these little books are like time machines yet also immediate, and so fun to thumb through.
So, here are a few pages from the 1980’s up to yesterday.
Drawing is a way to express the seen world, yet it is truly a window into the mind. And quick studies from day to day are a wonderful way to appreciate what is important at a particular moment.
