Deep forest, flowing water, and great leaves of Japanese Coltsfoot (Petasites japonicus) shuddering from the moving air. Peaceful as well as magical, this place harbors birds, bugs and unseen life forms. The filtered light of a forest is one of my favorite things about the landscape. The brighter light in the distance has something to say as well, and the combination of that golden light source and the more blue green light up front is wonderful.
I have taken the title from a line in Walt Whitman’s poem, “The Splendid Silent Sun.”
