detail of Bristol Ferry painting

Welcome to the online source for the work of artist Peter Dickison (b.1960).

"The leitmotif of Peter's work is intimate tranquility. The human forms emerge from the landscape. His central intuition is that human activity is framed by nature but that human understanding fabricates the landscape. Close examination of 'Midday- Break' or 'Bathers' exhibits this insight in color tones that unite the human forms and their setting with brushwork that illustrates how both arise from the same clay."

Peter participated in the Newport Art Museum's Wet Paint fundraising auction this year. The painting, entitled "Rocks and Shallows" was created the morning of the auction out on Newport's Cliff Walk, and then sold still wet at a live auction at the museum. All proceeds from the sale benefit the Museum's annual fund.
